  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Line a muffin tin with liners.
  • Place the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt into a mixing bowl.
  • In a separate bowl, mash the bananas, then add to the dry ingredients.
  • Next add the eggs and mix the ingredients.
  • Put the maple syrup, almond milk, and vanilla extract in and combine.
  • Add the coconut oil and mix one more time.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips and then place the dough into the muffin cups, about 3/4 full.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 16-20 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and allow them to cool.

Tips and Tricks For Healthier Chocolate Muffins:

 

  • Try gluten free flour.
  • Omit the chocolate chips.
  • Add some walnuts or chopped pecans, or even some almonds.
  • You could use honey in place of the maple syrup.

 

Also here is a little secret; our very favorite muffin recipe in our family is pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. However they are not as healthy as Healthier chocolate muffins.

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 1 cup mashed banana (about 2)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 3/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 3 Tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (mini or regular size)
