  • Lasagna noodles
  • Ground beef
  • Diced white chopped onion
  • Garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Dried Italian seasoning
  • Marinara sauce
  • Cottage cheese or ricotta cheese
  • Egg
  • Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded

How Do I Make Lasagna Roll Ups?

Here’s the simple steps you’ll follow to make this Dish (scroll down for the full recipe):

 

  • Cook the noodles according to package directions. 
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat.
  • Then add the onion and continue to cook. Add the garlic, salt, pepper and the Italian seasoning.
  • Add in the marinara sauce.
  • Next, spread 1/2 of the meat mixture in the bottom of a 9″ x 13″ baking pan.
  • In a separate bowl, add the cottage cheese or the ricotta cheese, the egg, parmesan cheese, and 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese.
  • Fill the noodles by placing 1/4 – 1/3 cup of cheese mixture over the noodles, then add about 2 – 3 Tablespoons of the meat mixture.
  • Roll the noodle up and place it in the prepared pan that has the sauce in the bottom. Place the noodle with the seam side down.
  • Add the remaining sauce to the top of the noodles and them top them off with the remaining cheese.
  • Cover loosely with foil and bake for 35 – 40 minutes.
  • Garnish with parsley, more Italian seasoning, or chives.

Lasagna Roll ups are fun and delicious. Packed with flavor and a meal that you will love. Topped with cheese and marinara sauce.

Cook Time 40 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles, (cooked according to directions)
  • 16 ounces of ground beef
  • 1/4 cup diced white chopped onion
  • 2 - 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 16 ounces of cottage cheese or ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 2 1/2 - 3 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded and divided
  • *Optional:  1 (10 ounce) package spinach, squeezed dry; add at the same time as the cheese 

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Cook the noodles according to package directions. You can drain them when they are finished cooking and leave them in cold water to keep them from drying out.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat, stirring and breaking up the meat as it cooks.
  4. Then add the onion and continue to cook for an additional 3 - 4 minutes. Add the garlic, salt, pepper and the Italian seasoning.
  5. Add in the marinara sauce; simmer for 5 minutes and then turn the heat off.
  6. Next, spread 1/2 of the meat mixture in the bottom of a 9" x 13" baking pan.
  7. In a separate bowl, add the cottage cheese or the ricotta cheese, the egg, parmesan cheese, and 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese.
  8. Fill the noodles by placing 1/4 - 1/3 cup of cheese mixture over the noodles, then add about 2 - 3 Tablespoons of the meat mixture.
  9. Roll the noodle up and place it in the prepared pan that has the sauce in the bottom. Place the noodle with the seam side down.
  10. Add the remaining sauce to the top of the noodles and them top them off with the remaining cheese.
  11. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 35 - 40 minutes.
  12. Garnish with parsley, more Italian seasoning, or chives.
