What Ingredients Do I Need For Valentines Chex Mix?

  • Pink or red candy melts
  • White almond bark or white chocolate chips
  • Coconut oil
  • Chex cereal
  • Strawberry cake mix
  • Powdered sugar
  • M&M’s (red, pink and white)
  • Sprinkles if desired, or/and cake decorations of your choice

How Do I Make Valentines Chex Mix?

Here’s the simple steps you’ll follow to make this Mix (scroll down for the full recipe):

 

  • Using two separate bowls, place 2 1/2 cups of cereal in each.
  • Melt the white almond bark.  Add 1 tsp of coconut oil.
  • Drizzle the chocolate over one of the bowls of Chex cereal and mix carefully.
  • Melt the pink or red candy melts. Add the coconut oil.
  • Get two gallon Zip lock baggies.
  • Place 1/2 cup of the dry strawberry cake mix and 1/4 cup of the powdered sugar in each bag.
  • Place each bowl of Chex mix in each bag, and give them a shake until they are coated with the mixtures.
  • Place the two mixtures together in a large bowl and then add the M&M’s and whatever other decorations you want.

 

 

 

 

Tips and Tricks for Valentines Chex Mix:

 

  • Remember that adding a little oil to your chocolate makes it smoother and more pliable; add more than the directions if necessary.
  • I like to melt a little extra white, red or pink chocolate and drizzle it over the mixture when you are finished, it helps hold it together and gives you little chunks.
  • Also if you can not find pink or red candy melts I use almond bark and add food coloring.
  • When putting your chocolate covered Chex in the bag, it is easier if you roll the bag down a couple of turns.

Ingredients

  • 5 ounces of pink or red candy melts (available @ craft stores or Walmart)
  • 5-6 ounces white almond bark or white chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons coconut oil (divided)
  • 5 cups of your favorite Chex cereal
  • 1 cup strawberry cake mix (dry)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups M&M's (red, pink and white)
  • sprinkles if desired, or/and cake decorations of your choice

Instructions

  1. Using two separate bowls, place 2 1/2 cups of cereal in each.
  2. In a microwave safe bowl, or dish, melt the white almond bark. Microwave on power level 5 for 1-3 minutes, checking every 30 seconds to see how well your chocolate is melting. Add 1 tsp of coconut oil as this will help make it easier to distribute.
  3. Drizzle the chocolate over one of the bowls of Chex cereal and mix carefully doing your best to coat all of the cereal.
  4. Next melt the pink or red candy melts by placing them into a microwave safe bowl and melting them the same way as the the white chocolate, in 30 second increments on power level 5.
  5. Add the coconut oil when it is melted and place this mixture over bowl number two of the cereal.
  6. Next get two gallon Zip lock baggies.
  7. Place 1/2 cup of the dry strawberry cake mix and 1/4 cup of the powdered sugar in each bag.
  8. Place each bowl of Chex mix in each bag, and give them a shake until they are coated with the mixtures.
  9. Place the two mixtures together in a large bowl and then add the M&M's and whatever other decorations you want.
