Banana Bread is always a good way to use up those ripe bananas, but sometimes we just plain let them ripen so we can make banana bread!
This is a basic, good, old-fashioned banana bread recipe with a few twists. It has a perfect spongy texture for banana bread, and is delicious. Banana bread has always been a family favorite of mine, The family that I grew up in loved it and my husband, children, and now grandchildren love it.
We love the small change that using applesauce instead of shortening makes, and we like it with the sour cream or yogurt. We never had yogurt when I was growing up and we always used shortening. It is kind of fun to change things up a bit and see how they turn out.
What Ingredients Do I Need For Banana Bread?
- Shortening or applesauce

How Do I Make Banana Bread?

- Add beaten eggs and then bananas. Mix.
- Then add soda, baking powder, salt, and flour. Stir just until mixed.

- Or you can bake in two large loaf pans; your loaves won’t be as tall and they do bake faster.

If you don’t care for it, you can always go back, but if you never try it, you will never know if you like things a different way. Sometimes I think that we just get in a rut because it is easy. Just imagine how different life would be if nobody had dared to venture out and try something new.
Sometimes I find myself thinking that I don’t like change, but when I think of riding a horse to the store, I think that I definitely like some change!
