Peanut Butter Easter Eggs are one of our favorite treats. When I went to buy some Easter candy, I was surprised at how much it had gone up in the last couple of years. So we got to work and made our own Peanut Butter Easter Eggs. Well, my husband said even before I got the chocolate on the outside of the filling that he could eat the whole bowl. Filling:

  • Peanut butter
  • Butter
  • Powdered sugar
  • Vanilla extract

 

Chocolate:

  • Vanilla coating dipping chocolate
  • Coconut oil, vegetable oil, or butter
  • *Optional: Food Coloring

How Do I Make Peanut Butter Easter Eggs?

Here’s the simple steps you’ll follow to make these Candy Easter Eggs (scroll down for the full recipe):

 

Filling:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, butter, vanilla extract and powdered sugar.
  • Cover the mixture and place it into the refrigerator.
  • Using an egg shaped cookie cutter, make the dough into egg shapes.
  • Then place the dough into the freezer for about 15 – 20 minutes.

 

Chocolate:

  • Place the vanilla coating into a microwave safe dish. Melt by using a power level 5.
  • Then take and place the eggs one at a time into the dipping chocolate. After they are dipped, place them onto a piece of waxed paper.
  • Then decorate with different colors of chocolate, sprinkles or small flowers.
  • Store left over eggs in the refrigerator, to keep them fresh.

Wow, that is a lot to choose from. All nut butters have a different consistency so you will need to take away powdered sugar or add a little extra to make your filling a nice fudge texture.

What If I Don’t Have an Egg Shaped Cookie Cutter?

 

  • Roll the dough into a ball and flatten into a circle.

Ingredients

Filling:

  • 1 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 3 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate:

  • 12 ounces vanilla coating dipping chocolate
  • 1 - 2 teaspoons coconut oil, vegetable oil, or butter
  • *Optional: Food Coloring

Instructions

Filling:
