Easy Tater Tot Casserole is a great dinner for those busy nights. With school starting soon, I wanted to share an easy dinner for you and your family. I know life gets busy, but you can have this casserole on the table in about 1 hour.
I am pretty sure that your kids will love this recipe, and adults love it too. It is a great comfort food and a recipe that has save me when I wasn’t sure what to fix, more than once.
What Ingredients Do I Need For Easy Tater Tot Casserole?

- Ground beef
- Dried onion
- Salt and pepper
- Cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup
- Milk
- Can of green beans
- Frozen tater-tots
- Grated cheese
How Do I Make Easy Tater Tot Casserole?
Here’s the simple steps you’ll follow to make this casserole (scroll down for the full recipe):
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef. Add the onion and salt and pepper.
- Next add the cream soup, milk and the drained green beans.
- Transfer the ground beef mixture to 9″ X 13″ baking dish.
- Cover with tater tots, and then cover with the grated cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil.
- Place the casserole into the oven and bake for 30 – 45 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and serve while still warm.
- I did garnish mine with some dried parsley.
What Substitutions Can I Make to Easy Tater Tot Casserole?
- You can use corn, peas and carrots, or whatever vegetable that you like, instead of beans – or even leave the vegetables out.
- Also, fresh, canned, or frozen vegetables work in this dish.
- Use any cream condensed soup, like cream of chicken, mushroom, celery, or onion.
- Substitute the ground beef with with ground turkey, chicken, pork, or sausage.
Can I Make Easy Tater Tot Casserole Ahead?
- Wrap the assembled, unbaked tater tot casserole in plastic wrap, then heavy aluminum foil.
- Bake straight from the freezer at 350°F for 60 – 75 minutes. Keep covered for the first 25 minutes, then uncover and bake until the center reaches 165°F.
How Do I Store Leftovers?
- Store leftover tater tot casserole in the refrigerator in an airtight container, for up to 5 days.
- When reheating in the oven, bake at 350°F for 15 – 20 minutes until the center reaches 165°F.
- If reheating in the microwave, warm in 30-second increments until warmed through.

Easy Tater Tot Casserole

Easy Tater Tot Casserole is a dinner that you can have on the table in about 1 hour. Hamburger and tater tots all in one dish.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (cooked)
- 1 teaspoon dried onion
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup
- 1/8 cup milk (Add this only if you want; I like mixture just a little thinner than with no milk)
- 1 (16.4 ounce) can of green beans, drained (you can use any vegetables that you like)
- 1 (16 ounce) package frozen tater-tots
- 2 cups grated cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef. Add the onion and salt and pepper while cooking. Cook until the ground beef is cooked.
- Next add the cream soup, milk and the drained green beans.
- Transfer the ground beef mixture to 9" X 13" baking dish.
- Cover with tater tots, and then cover with the grated cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil.
- Place the casserole into the oven and bake for 30 - 45 minutes or until the center is about 170 degrees and the tater tots are warmed all the way through.
- Remove from the oven and serve while still warm.
