  • Cream of chicken soup
  • Sour cream
  • Butter
  • Ritz crackers or Town House

How Do I Make Easy Poppy Seed Chicken?

  • In a large pot, add enough water to cover the chicken.
  • Boil the chicken until it is completely cooked.
  • After the chicken is cooked, place it into a 9″ X 13″ pan and shred it.
  • Mix the cream of chicken soup and the sour cream together in a medium bowl.
  • Pour the mixture on top of the shredded chicken.
  • Melt the butter.
  • Add the crushed crackers, to the butter.
  • Place the crackers on top of the soup mixture and sprinkle the top of the casserole with poppy seeds.
  • Cover the dish with a piece of aluminum foil and place in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

  • You could also use turkey instead of chicken; that would be a great way to use left over turkey around Thanksgiving time.

Easy poppy seed chicken comes together in 45 minutes. The buttery crackers, mixed with the poppy seeds and chicken are scrumptious.

Ingredients

  • 6 medium chicken breasts (boiled and shredded)
  • 2 (10.75 ounce) cans cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 packages or sleeves of Ritz crackers or Town House (crushed)
  • 2 Tablespoons poppy seeds

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, add enough water to cover the chicken.
  2. Boil the chicken until it is completely cooked or the center of the chicken reaches 160 degrees.
  3. After the chicken is cooked, place it into a 9" X 13" pan and shred it.
  4. Mix the cream of chicken soup and the sour cream together in a medium bowl.
  5. Pour the mixture on top of the shredded chicken.
  6. Melt the butter. I like to place it in the microwave for about 30 seconds in a microwave safe bowl.
  7. Add the crushed crackers to the butter.
  8. Place the crackers on top of the soup mixture and sprinkle the top of the casserole with poppy seeds.
  9. Cover the dish with a piece of aluminum foil and place in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
  10. Store any left overs in the refrigerator.
