Easy buttermilk pie is great to put together. You will want to try this buttermilk pie for Thanksgiving coming right up! I like to add some freshly sweetened whipped cream to the top of my pie, but it is not necessary. It tastes like a buttery vanilla custard.

How Do I Make Easy Buttermilk Pie?

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the flour, salt and eggs; beat again making the mixture nice and smooth.
  • Next add the buttermilk, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and cinnamon if desired.
  • Pour the mixture into a 9″ unbaked pie crust.
  • Bake for 50-55 minutes.
  • Allow the pie to cool before serving.
  • Refrigerate any left overs.

How Do I Store My Buttermilk Pie?

 

  • Your buttermilk pie will last up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
  • And you can also freeze buttermilk pie, if baked, for up to 3 months.

Easy buttermilk pie has a wonderful custard like texture. It is very easy to put together, making it easy for any special occasion.

Total Time 1 hour 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 9" unbaked pie crust (make your own, or I like Marie Calendars in the frozen section)
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3 Tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon or lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • (optional) 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon or nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until nice and creamy.
  3. Add the flour, salt and eggs; beat again making the mixture nice and smooth.
  4. Next add the buttermilk, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and cinnamon if desired.
  5. Pour the mixture into a 9" unbaked pie crust.
  6. Place a piece of foil onto a cookie sheet then set the pie on the sheet.
  7. Bake for 50-55 minutes until the center of the pie comes out clean when you test with a tooth pick.
  8. Allow the pie to cool for up to one hour before serving.
  9. Refrigerate any left overs.
