Cream cheese crock pot chicken is creamy, and loaded with great flavor. My daughter asked me if this recipe was on the blog the other day and I told her “yes”. When she couldn’t find it, I looked and sure enough, it wasn’t there?
I was so excited and proud of her for even wanting to cook and so I knew that I needed to get it on the blog. I must admit, there are times when I make a dish and the pictures don’t turn out too well or we eat it before I get the pictures taken.
So, I am pretty sure that last time I made cream cheese crock pot chicken, that is what happened; or sometimes, I run out of time or get busy with something else and it slips my mind and I move onto a new recipe.
Yep, and that is what happened with my corn bread recipe too. So now, I have them both on the blog and things are good. I just have to see what else I thought I posted and forgot! Ooops!!

Here’s the simple steps you’ll follow to make this Meal (scroll down for the full recipe):
- Place 6-8 smaller chicken breasts or 3 large in the bottom of a crock pot and turn to high, if you are cooking it on low, then turn it to low.

- Allow the mixture to cook on high for 4-5 hours or on low for 6-8 hours.
- When it is finished cooking, add 8 ounces cream cheese and cook for another 30 minutes.

Can I Substitute a Different Soup for the Cream of Chicken Soup in Cream Cheese Crock Pot Chicken?
- Yes, if you do not have cream of chicken soup, you can substitute with cream of mushroom.
- Or you can use one can of cream of celery with one can of cream of mushroom.
- Or you can use any combination of these cream soups as long as you use 2 cans!
So, this week, I have been trying to recognize things that I am grateful for. Can you come up with a least ten things? As I sit here and type this, my fingers come to mind, what would I ever do without my fingers?
How about your eyes? What would we do without them? I would not be able to cook like I do and as far as the computer goes, it is tricky enough with my eyes.
I also think about my sweet husband, since my amazing neighbor lost her husband to a five year battle with cancer. That is a tough one, and I think that too often we forget to appreciate the ones that we are closest to.
What are Some Options to serve Cream Cheese Crock Pot Chicken on?
- If you like rice, then you can put it over cooked rice.
- Or if not, you can use noodles. We like curly noodles or even egg noodles.
- I use noodles some of the time because they are a little faster to cook. But I like rice just as well.
How about all the yummy food that we are able to taste? I was visiting with a friend yesterday and she told me that her nose doesn’t work and how frustrating that is for her. She told me that it is really scary when her kids or her husband come into the house and tell her that the gas on her stove is leaking and they hurry and open the window so that they all do not get asphyxiated. Now I never thought of that.
Also, I have another friend that cannot smell and she said that the worst thing is that she can’t smell cookies cooking. And when my neighbor came to the door today, the first thing she said was ” it sure smells good in here”. Well there you go, just a few things to think about.
Cream Cheese Crock Pot Chicken is a great dish for Sunday or even an evening meal if you are working. Or I suggest that you give this recipe to a college student or a newly married couple and I know that they will love it.
Let me know how you like it and be sure and let your friends and neighbors know your new secret recipe! Have a great day, and one other thing, I am grateful for you coming to my blog!!! Thank you!
Tips and Tricks for Cream Cheese Crock Pot Chicken:
- Some crock pots cook faster than others, so check the temperature of the chicken, and when it reaches 160 degrees it is done.
- Make sure that you put the cream cheese in 30 minutes before serving, otherwise the cream cheese makes the texture like it wants to separate.
- You could also use chicken tenders, but they do cook faster, and sometimes that is wonderful.

6-8 chicken breasts are too many for our small family. If I only use 3-4 should I halve the rest of the ingredients?
Yes, that is what I would do, maybe just watch the timing to make sure that it doesn’t get over cooked. Enjoy and thank you for stopping by!:)
Do you think it’s possible to throw the egg noodles directly in the crock pot at some point?
Take the chicken out of the crockpot to shred it, then add the shredded chicken back to the pot along with the dry egg noodles and stir. Continue cooking for 30-45 minutes, until noodles are tender. I hope this helps. Do not over cook them or they will to too soft.
Can I use pre-cooked chicken? And how long would I cook it then?
Precooked chicken is a great idea, and really all you would have to do is get it to about 160 degrees. Then add your cream cheese. Great Idea thank you for the tip!
I love this recipe and my family loves it even more! Thanks for a great dinner recipe!
Thank you so much. We are so happy that you and your family enjoy this recipe, and thank you for leaving a comment! We appreciate you.
Could I fold in baby spinach at the end how long to cook spinach
Oh, that sounds really good! Baby spinach usually cooks up when the dish is hot in about 3-5 minutes. Thanks for stopping buy and thanks for the great idea!:)
Likewise “when the dish is hot” how long does an 8 oz package of cream cheese take to melt/cook? Above I saw 30 minutes which is about the time before my kids pick up their rotel chicken spand I wanted to add it so I guess we’ll see but wouldn’t mind checking back to see if that’s ok! Ty!
Not very long if you keep stirring it, it can be done in about 10-15 minutes. Enjoy and thank you for the great question!!:)
Could you use frozen chicken breasts or should they be thawed
I have used frozen chicken breasts before, but I know that they don’t recommend frozen meat in the crock pot, but I have never had any problems. Thanks for the great question.
Wonderful recipe , I used 3 oz cream cheese & had to add little more broth .
Thank you for leaving a comment. Glad that you enjoyed the recipe, and that you made it your own.
