How Do I Make Cherry Crumble Pie?
Here’s the simple steps you’ll follow to make this Pie (scroll down for the full recipe):
Pie:
- Make or buy a 9″ pie crust.
- In a medium sauce pan, place the cherries, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, almond extract, cinnamon, cornstarch, and the butter.
- Place over medium heat and stir until all ingredients are well incorporated; allow the mixture to simmer for about 10 – 15 minutes, or until the mixture becomes thickened. Remove from the heat.
Topping:
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the oats, flour, brown sugar, salt. Add in the butter pieces and use your fingers to crumble the butter into the oat mixture until clumps form.
- Place the pie filling into the crust, then place the crumb topping on top.
- Place the pie in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes, then reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees for 30 – 40 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and allow the pie to cool, then top with sweetened whipped cream or ice cream.

Tips and Tricks for Cherry Crumble Pie:
- Use a cherry pitter to remove the cherry pits.
- Cut the cherries in half after pitting them to make sure all cherry pits have been removed.
- Check on the pie about half way through the baking time. When it has browned, place a piece of foil on top to prevent the top from browning too much.
- After the pie comes out of the oven, allow it to cool before slicing and serving.

- 5 cups pitted cherries; you can use whole or cut them in half. (If you use frozen cherries, make sure to take them out of the freezer 1 hour before adding them to the filling).
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
