Caramel Grapes:
- Place a toothpick in each grape that is washed and dried if desired, or just use your fingers.
- In a medium to small sized pan, place the unwrapped caramels.
- Allow the caramel to warm on a low temperature stirring often.
- If the caramel is too thick, add 2-3 Tablespoons of cream or add a little at a time to the desired consistency.
- When the caramel is soft, dip the grapes into the caramel allowing the caramel to go 1/2 – 3/4 of the way up the grapes. Keep the caramel on the lowest amount of heat that allows the caramel to stay warm.
Garnishment:
- Then dip the caramel grape in crushed cookie, nuts, sprinkles or chocolate.
- Repeat the process with each grape.
- Place the grapes on wax paper and allow them to cool, or place them in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve them.
Tips and Tricks for Caramel Grapes with Chocolate:
- You can put a toothpick in each grape when dipping it in the caramel and the chocolate. Or you can just use your fingers.
- You could use microwave caramels, but I chose to buy caramels and melt them on the stove top, the homemade caramels do take a bit longer to set up.
- The caramel was just a little too thick so I added some cream to thin it out just a bit. It was about 2 Tablespoons, but add just a little at a time so that you can get the right consistency.
- They also make caramel bits that are easy to melt and make these simple as well.
