How Do I Make Lucky Leprechaun Hat Bowls?
Here’s the simple steps you’ll follow to make these Leprechaun Bowls (scroll down for the full recipe):
- Place the melting chocolate into a microwave safe bowl.
- Melt the chocolate on power level 5 for 1 – 2 minutes, checking every 30 seconds.
- When the chocolate has melted, add a teaspoon of cooking oil, then the food coloring. For the hats I used Wilton Gel food colors (green).
- Stir the mixture until combined.
- Place a silicone muffin liner upside down and spray with non stick spray; or shiny cup cake liners work well too. While the chocolate is warm, pour it over your muffin liners, and then form them to make a hat shape.
- After shaping the chocolate into hats, place them in the freezer for about 15 minutes. Remove them and then decorate the bottom edge of the hat with black frosting.
- Use mini star bursts for the buckle of the hat and place a small dot in the center of your mini star burst.
- Allow the frosting to dry and then fill your hats with whatever you like.
Here are Some Ideas of Things that you Could Put in your Lucky Leprechaun Bowls:
- Gold Coins
- Rainbow candy
- Cupcakes, and you could use just a small amount of frosting on the cupcake, or use the chocolate as your frosting
- Your favorite mousse recipe.
- Green candy of any sort
- Pudding (green, or your family’s favorite flavors)
What do Leprechauns have to do with Saint Patrick’s Day?
- Leprechauns are actually one reason you’re supposed to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day—or risk getting pinched!
- The tradition is tied to folklore that says wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns, which like to pinch anyone they can see.
