Chicken crescents are buttery and flaky and add just the right touch to any meal when they are rolled in bread crumbs and pecans and baked to perfection. In past years our family had chicken cordon bleu for Christmas Eve, but then about six years ago, I came across this recipe!

Yes, you guessed it, this is our new Christmas Eve tradition. I like to add gravy over the top, but you can eat them plain if you like. Add some creamy potatoes and a vegetable and you are set. You can always add some Christmas Jello.

Just remember it is about good food and good memories. May your Christmas be the best ever. And you can have these for any special occasion. If your family and friends like mushrooms, you can add them too.

Do you remember your most favorite Christmas? I remember when I was in 3rd grade, I was so excited! I got some bubble bath from one of my class mates. It came in a box that looked like a pop bottle. It was so cute and I felt so special.

I do not know why this present stands out to me so much, but I really liked it and I to this day remember it. It was so special that I do not remember any other gift given at school. I can even remember the smell of the bubble bath.

Chicken Crescents

What do you think makes one gift stand out from another. Another gift that I remember was a gift from my boyfriend when I was a Junior in high school. He gave me a beautiful white sweater with a pink stripe in the middle of it. I loved this sweater and wore it for years until it wore out.

Then there is the time that my siblings and I could not wait to see what my Aunt and Uncle gave us, so while my parents were gone to town, we very carefully removed the tape from the gift to find out that they had given us a Simon!

We did not have a lot of games growing up and we surely didn’t have any electronic games. We could not wait for Christmas Day!! One other thing that I have told you about was the alarm clock that I got one year. I really like it too.

Could I Make Dough to Use in Chicken Crescents?

  • You definitely could make your own dough to use in Chicken Crescents.
  • But I have to admit, that to me, using crescent rolls is one of the greatest advantages of this recipe.

My son is still using that alarm clock to this day! That is an old clock and let me tell you it is so much easier to run than the one that I have now. I have to keep the instructions in the drawer so that when I go to change my clock, I get the instructions out and read them.

I am grateful for my clock that it is there to tell me time morning noon and night. And I am also grateful when it helps me get up when I put it on the right time (AM/PM) :). I think that my husband gave me this clock to teach me patience.

One thing that I am looking forward to asking my children what gift that they have enjoyed the most in their lives and coming to know my kids a little better. I also loved a letter that my son gave me when he came home from a 2 year mission.

Gifts:

  • I have always considered the gift of service to be one of the best gifts that there are.
  • I love to share food, like Chicken Crescents, with others and think that that is a wonderful gift.
  • Lately, I have come to realize that sometimes it is even better to invite others to share your meal (and your company) than just giving them food. Sometimes people just want to be included. I suppose that this could also be considered a gift of time. How valuable that gift of time can be!

My son told my husband and me that when he was in Peru, that they ask what did you do with your family for Christmas, not what did you get for Christmas. This letter was from my son that does not talk a lot and it was a very meaningful letter.

It really changed my perspective of Christmas and I have tried to make Christmas at my house more meaningful. I hope that this year can be one of the best Christmas’ ever and that we can spend quality time with family and loved ones.

Now that I have grown up, it is not about the bubble bath and the sweaters, it is about seeing the joy that others experience in the receiving of their gifts. And I do love watching the grand kids enjoy their Christmas gifts.

And we will be having Chicken Crescents for dinner, because we all enjoy them so much and because it is a Christmas tradition. I hope that some of these wonderful recipes make a wonderful tradition for my children.

Tips and Tricks For Chicken Crescents:

  • I am going to chop up a little broccoli and add it to my Chicken Crescents, (just to make them a little healthier)!
  • To prepare the fresh broccoli, micro wave or steam it for a few minutes.
  • Name brand crescents seem to stay together better than the no name brand, but they both work great!
